The Reality of Pumping

I’m grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to breast feed my little baby and I feel for the women who are not able to for a who variety of reasons which are none of my business.

I’m also grateful for being able to have health insurance which provided me with a free breast pump. (Thank you Target Breast Pumping program, you guys rock and thank you to my dear friend Gaby for telling me about it!)

Now that where I stand is out of the way, #endmommywars, this post is about my reality of PUMPING, specifically pumping in the car.

Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Medela and their products. NO they don’t give me anything for saying that. But I just have to giggle a little about the lovely images of breast pumping Medela shows on their website:

It’s such a lovely sentiment. It really is, but this is my reality for me and so many other women:

Again, I really do love you Medela, especially for making a car adapter for my breast pump.
I originally posted this photo in a breastfeeding support group I am part of Facebook and quickly discovered I am not alone! Photos of other Mom’s “pumping in the car” set-up started appearing with other Moms virtually cheering each other on. That’s all I will say about it because I don’t want to violate the privacy terms of my support group, but I simply wonder what if we saw more authentic images of what it takes to pump? What’s your set-up like?

Hugs & Shuffles,
